Empowering British Columbia Youth through Career-Readiness and Work Experience

Are you a youth between the ages of 16–35 looking to gain real-world experience, build your resume, and prepare for future employment? Our Youth Internship Program is designed to equip you with the tools, confidence, and connections to succeed in today’s workforce.

Job Participant Eligibility:

This program is open to students and unemployed individuals who are legally eligible to work in Canada. This includes Canadian citizens, permanent residents, work permit holders, international students, and refugee claimants aged 16 to 35. Applicants must reside in British Columbia and can be from any region within the province. Participants must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours and up to a maximum of 50 hours between June 1 and August 31, 2025. Attendance at a resume and cover letter workshop in May/June 2025 is mandatory.

Employer Eligibility:

Employers must be registered businesses, either federally or with the Province of British Columbia. Participating employers are expected to provide mentorship and on-the-job training to interns for a minimum of 40 hours and up to a maximum of 50 hours, within the period of June 1 to August 31, 2025. There is no employment cost to the employer—the program covers all participant wages during their employment. Additionally, employers will receive an administrative fee of approximately 5% of the intern’s total employment cost. While priority job categories are listed below, employers are welcome to propose additional roles outside the provided categories.

Resume building and Interview Prep Workshop. Learn how to craft professional resumes and cover letters that stand out to employers.

Interview Preparation Workshop. Practice interview techniques and gain tips to present yourself confidently in any interview setting.

Interviews for Work Placement. Participants will be matched with local businesses and organizations for interviews leading to internship placements.

Youth Internship Program (40 hours). Paid internships offering hands-on experience in various sectors, mentorship, and career development opportunities. The Employer does not incur any employment cost, this program will pay the participants during the employment hours.
